1st post, simple question
I'm going to get either a new Pro ES or Pro 5 in a few months. My question pertains to the speaker sizes of each car.
In each car (newest body styles), what is the size of the front & rear factory speakers? I know they differ between the two models.
Also, do either of these cars come with factory seperates (woofers & tweeters), and if so, where in the door are the tweeters located?
Thankyou.

My 2002 p5 has 5x7 in the front and 6.5 in the rear. No tweaters in the 02 , but I think the 03 have seperate tweaters.
If you do a search on speaker sizes then you will be able to get the rest of the answers.

I have an 03 P5 and it comes with factory seperates. The tweeters are up next to the mirrors behind a plastic piece. It comes with 3/4" tweeters up front, but I had 1" tweeters put into the factory location with no problems. Pictures of everything are available on my site if you click the www button.
For the Record on a 2003 Protege 5
5x7 up front (replaceable with 5.25 or 6.5 (just watch mounting depth, Sir Nuke posted an excellent thread on this if you use the search button)
3/4 tweeters where the plastic caps are next to the mirrors, a 1" tweeter fits in the hole.
6 in the rear replaceable with 6.5

Herkalees, you already have your answer...so I will just add this
Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to our Club. There are TWO BIG fridge'S in the corner with anything you can think of in them...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have.
make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom don't care....and take it easy.
oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.
Welcome!!

Thanks all, check this out...
Thanks all for the quick replies, still interested in knowing the sizes for the 2002 - 2003 Pro ES.
Here's why I'm asking: (hold onto your undies)
I work for Tweeter out here north of Boston, and I just took a 8 hour long tour of the manufacturing plant for a "certain" brand of speaker my company sells. I will leave out the brand, just in case.
Aside from the knowledge gained to help out on the sales floor, another reward of taking this tour is I left with a coupon offering me 75% off any full car system I desire... front's and rears, amp(s) and subwoofer(s).
Since I don't have my car yet, and only 30 days to use this coupon, I wanted to know what sizes to buy.
It's too bad Mazda chose to stick their factory tweeters in the location they did... incredibly poor location for sound quality. It seems all cars offering factory seperates are doing this... must be a $$ thing, because that's a horrible place to stick them...
Thanks for the welcome, soon I'll have the car to go along with the membership to this forum.

the speakers in your upcoming ES are as follows.....5X7's in the front doors....and 6X9's in the rear deck. there are no speakers in the rear doors.
oh...and btw...the 6 X 8 fits in the front door just fine....the big thing you need to be careful on the front door speakers is back clearance....you have a very limited about of space...the windows will hit the speaker otherwise.
as long as the mounting depth of your speaker is no more than 2 1/2 inches you are good to go....if they are...you will have to use some spacers....there is a ring on the inside of the door panel that you can trim down to give you extra cleanrance...if you totally remove it...there is about an inch between the speaker and the grill on the door panel.

Not that I've taken everything apart to look, but I was told my ES has six speakers. I'm not that big into sterio systems, so I took there word for it.

According to Crutchfield.com, the Protege 5 "Best Fit" speakers are 6x8 in the front, and 6 1/2 in the back. I didnt even know they made 6x8 speakers! Are these sizes correct??
