2002 2.0L ES Sedan Idles erratically
My car idles erratically when i first start it up.....it shoots up and down for the first 30 seconds when i first start it out....I'm not sure if this is a part of the "harmonic" problem that was previously reported or if this is normal, or even if this is a completely different problem....I tested another a P5 and it seemed to do something that was very similar but the dealer told me that this was because the A/C was on.

oh yeah.......i should point out that it calms down after around a minute.....but this seems to only happen when i first start it up in the morning.....my previous car was an 86 626 which had a 2.0L engine I know that the engine has changed alot since then but it seemed to idle much smoother when cold then this engine...

it's prolly just a cold engine start deal. Once the engine is warm and the thermostat opens, the vibrations should go down. When the A/C is on it will jump 250 rpm's or so but you should also hear the compressor turn on at the same time.
pop the hood and listen to it. If it happens harmonically like a sin wave than it's prolly ok, but if you notice the engine randomly idle'ing up and down, there is somethin wrong. This was a symptom on my car the day i got the MAF replaced under warrantee.
If you have any doubt, don't mess around just bring it in and let the tech's hammer it out.

I would really get that checked out, that never happened to my Pro5 either. It does it now, but thats because I installed my cams. As a matter of fact, it doesnt idle bad, it jumps a little but nothing that will catch my attention every time. Better get it checked before something bad happens.
