What I was told from Jim at Sunbelt performance the stock motor can handle up to 250 HP with a turbo psi would be about 10.
to achieve anything over 250 or more you need to change the valves, rods, pistons for more boost. Clucth to a stage 2 or 3. Stand alone computer stock cannot handle changing the fuel curve.
PS What ever you can do to a Honda Motor we can due to ours it all depends on how much $$$$$$$$ you have.
Think + instead of -
If you read about tripoint and foos they are running now 300 HP on a non turbo motor. Oh and they are not the japenese spec Protege motors either.

You upgrade the heads and the block enough our motor should handle more than 500HP. But at that level of HP you will also need to upgrade almost all of the drivetrain components to handle that much horsepower. It would cost more money than it is worth on a FWD vehicle.

i totaly agree.
u need serious cash, and a die hard love for a protege to get 500 horses outta it, there are alot cheaper ways to go about getting a car so quick and it starts with a better car. ( not ragging on the pro in any way) its just a fact oflife.

To install high compression pistons at a shop will probably cost around $1,500 or so. They will have to do a lot of work to put the new pistons in. I would estimate around 10hp. I don't believe I have actually seen anyone do a dyno with the upgraded pistons. Remember the JSpec car they are off of is only doing around 170hp at the crank and that is with upgraded cams and stuff like that. You want power go get a turbocharger. You want a challenge (expensive) then go naturally aspirated.
