99 protege keyless entry code
you guys are probably sick to death of people asking about this, but i haven't had much luck trying any of the methods i've found on the internet. being that i can't even use my key on the driver's side door because something happened to the lock, i have to unlock the door on the passenger's side and walk around to get in my car - which obviously sucks.
does anyone know of instructions that will work with a 99 protege? bought a keyless entry transmitter on e-bay (looks just like the old one i had - should work) but it's useless until i can figure out a reliable way to get it to work. thanks a million.

just did mine.
unlock and close all doors.
open just drivers door
turn key to on and then off 3x
push drivers door dome switch 3x
door should lock then unlock
push any button on transmitter 2x
locks should cycle again
if you have any more remotes program them now also
when done turn key to on then off again.
get out close door and see if it works
these are straight from a friend at the mazda dealer and worked perfectly to program my 3 new remotes. also did you check to make sure your car has keyless entry as an option?

Is there someway to determine if you have the keyless entry system? I have a 2001 ES-GT that I bought used. When I bought it the owner didn't have the remotes, and I am unsure if the car came standard with keyless entry.
I have tried the programming seguence described above and it cause the locks to cycle, but before I get the remote, I want to figure out if I have keyless?

Take your VIN to the dealer, they should be able to print out a complete build sheet on your car. I did this with a 99 Dodge Caravan we bought used a few years ago, but I'm pretty sure Mazda can do it also.
