ABS problem

I have an 03 mp5 with possible abs failure. My fluid level if fine, all pads are new but both abs and break lights are still on. I get a grinding feeling, almost the abs is starting to work, just before the lights come on. Do I need a new ABS system? If so, how much would that cost? Is there a sensor, pump, etc I could change to fix the problem? I only have 50k miles on the car. Damn abs. I live in Colorado so the snow may be a problem with no abs.

Get the codes read - it will help tremendously in t/sing the system.

It might just be a wheel sensor (or the computer )

abs

When I had my rear breaks changed the guy who did it for me said the lights, or abs, may reset its self in a few miles. About a week later the lights went off and seemed to be fine. The lights went on one more time for a little while, and then off again. Its been off for a week now.
