I have this problem too. At first I thought something was wrong, then I thought the car was controlling it but now it started happening less. So I'm not sure and will keep an eye on switch positions and all that.

I have a question too. I'm not the one who bought the car new but I think it's still within like 2 months of warranty. Would I need anything to prove this? Or can the dealership look it up by VIN?

There is a TSB Technical Service Bulletin

There is a TSB Technical Service Bulletin

The FU***** knew they had a defective part but did not do any kind of recall, I complained of this from 2002, 2003, 2004 and finally when I showed them TSB in 2005 just before my warranty ran-out then they changed it.

Got mine done last year in the Spring before Warranty ran-out.

We can thank the man for this:

Okay, today it was exactly as described by all of you. Fan switch position 2 turns off the A/C light in the button. 1, 3, 4 work fine. I'll be seeing the dealer on monday.

Alrighty, I went to the Chrysler-Mazda 5 star dealer after work yesterday. They checked the warranty and my car is in till december. A mechanic checked it our right away and they ordered a control board or something for my car. 3-5 business days for it to get there. Had them do a free 16 point check up too. I'm glad it's done under warranty. I was a little worried that my odometer replacement would have voided it. Previous owner put white gauges in at 28800 miles. I'm close to 19000 now. There is a sticker on the car stating this.

Now I was wondering if there is anything I can and should have done by them before warranty runs out. Are there any free tip to toe check ups or maintenance jobs they can do for free/ under warranty? This is the first time I have a car this new.

Also, R-134a (what's in our cars) is a good refrigerant with almost the same cooling power as R-22. Therefore, it's simply an inadequate cooling system for the car.
I get the same problem, i'm sure just by bringing it up the dealership will know whats going on, seems like more than one or two are having it.
