Advance Timing for '03 Protege5?
I've searched, and haven't come up with how to do this for my P5. Is it a matter of a timing gun and adjusting a crank angle sensor, or does this need to be performed electronically only?
Seems like 130 HP is sandbagging for a 2.0L engine.

If you guys are successful in advancing timing with a recal, remember that knock becomes more pronounced at advanced timing. If you go beyond the stock curve by four degrees or so, I would strongly suggest running at least midgrade to prevent knock from occurring.
I have no idea how a MP3 spark curve compares to the stock Protege, and perhaps it could be kind of a yardstick to guage whether higher octane fuel is necessary or not. But, I always err on the side of caution.

Just bought mine
BTW, I just bought mine ('03 Protege5, silver) last week, and I'm lovin' it. Styling is great, handles great. Perforated leather, mmmm, even smells great. Just wish it had a little more snap. I'm a little spoiled in the power department, tho'. Just sold my '93 Sentra SE-R w/ball bearing turbo. I won't miss the 20 MPG, however!
