Question Answer me this compadres!

Alrighty then. A friend of mine has a Ford Focus, , which I hate. The car, not him, hes a cool guy. But he loves sayin that my Mazda P5 has also been made BY Ford. This I doubt. My VIN and info sticker in the driver door says made in Japan. Do you guys know any more about this?

Your car's a Mazda, made in Japan. It's about as Ford as a Jaguar or Kia is.

The FS-DE engine that our car has also is in the Ford Probe, Mazda 626, Kia Sportage, and others.

Actually the sportage got a version of the FE3, not the FS-DE, and watch using the Jaguar reference...Ford owns them 100%....The P5 was manufactured in Hiroshima,Japan...it absolutely is NOT a Ford...it is completely designed and manufactured by Mazda and imported to the states...Saying it was built by Ford is not a huge knock though. I don't understand the hostility towards the blue oval...even Mazda has conceded Ford knows how to build a chassis, as the Mazda 3 chassis was developed by Ford, while Mazda provided the rest, such as the engine, transmission, interior, and exterior design

FYI for everybody in here, Ford owns about thirty percent of the Mazda corporation. Who do you think helped Ford design the brand new 2005 new body style mustang. Also compare the Mazda Tribute to the Ford Escape. Same car. There is a little info to get your day started.

the new mustang design is 100% Ford. I can't remember the guys name but he's like some 20-something art super hero Ford hired to re-invent their legend. There was a big special on it on tv several months back. Also, the chasis and drivtrain was based off the Lincoln LS / Thunderbird chasis until Ford realized it wouldn't handle the power they wanted and remain stiff enough for a convertable.

Where is Topher when you need him?

The ranger and the b2000-4000 are the same cars too. But Mazda is still Mazda, at least for now. They still design and make there own cars. It's just the trucks and SUV's that they have trouble with apparently.
mackdaddy, we have hostility toward ford cause ford sucks. Not all the time, but most of the time. And I really don't know about this whole three valve setup on the new stang. I just dont know how much after market power that's gonna be able to sustain.

uh...Miller have you seen what the 3-valve set-up has been used on?? Ford copied from Merceds on their high end sports cars, olkswagon used it on their cars for better performance. It's a proven technology. Also, it affects performance parts in no way...it's not like an AEM intake is going to make less power now.

Remember their 4-vlave head made 260hp now their 3-valve head is making 300hp on 87octane with full timing. Change is not always a bad thing!

cars MAZDA builds in japan:
protege
protege5
miata
rx-8

mazda tribute = ford escape
mazda b2000 = ford ranger

those are the ONLY similarities between the 2 companies

and about the 3-valve. drive an older f-150 v8 vs. a new f-150 v8 with the 3-valve motor.

you get the same argument over the 7.3L diesel vs. the new 6.0L...they make changes for a reason. the new 6.0L is smaller...but produces more hp and torque...and if they didn't believe in their motors, they wouldn't put a 100,000 mile warranty on them.

the new mustang will be one hell of a car...3-valve and all. i'm sure aftermarket companies are working hard to get products out for it because it's gonna be a hot car...and face it, people WILL mod them...so don't worry about ford.

and for those who say "Ford Sucks"...well, they have the best selling vehicle in the world aka F-150...best selling small truck aka Ranger...and although i HATE the car, the focus is pretty well put-together...it's just not made for tuners (IMO).

Roddimus is right about doubting Ford. They are known to put out some shitty cars but they also make dependable cars as well. But to answer the first guys question, our protege's, the new 3's and 6's, the miata, and the vans are made over seas. And about the ford focus, the svt focus is a bad *** car. Even better with a few mods.
