anti-theft
what do you folks use. I don't have anything but I have to park on the street and would feel better with something. Anyone use something similiar to the club, but it attaches to the brake or clutch pedal?

Just a thought, but if you did use a pedal protector of some sort, it would not be visible to the intruder. What I mean is, they would still have to break in before they realized they couldn't take it. So I don't think that would help too much, unless you are afraid they would take the entire car? I haven't seen the Protege top any lists of most stolen cars yet.

I know Gorilla products makes a steering wheel lock. They have it in the JC Whitbey catalog all the time. Its not like the club at all. Here is a link to the pic of it:

Well, thats all that I know of. I mean, if the person REALLY wants the car, he/she is going to find a way to get it. Even if you have things like the Club or other lock mechanisms. Id get the steering wheel lock over everything else because ewhen tampered with, the alarm on it goes off. Unlike the Club.... Just my opinion though.

This may sound really dumb but I have 20% tints all around on my car (yeah, i know, probably illegal in every state) and I suspect that having such tints has acted as a theft deterrent because would-be thieves cannot look into the car as easily. This is more applicable for leaving items in the car rather than having your car jacked.

i never broke into a car but there was some old lady who left her nice *** gucci purse on the seat of her lexus LS 400
i would have broken in and stole the whole lot if i weren't such a nice young man.
bottom line: dont make people want to take your car :P

I use autolock:

simply because CLUB is useless. All it takes is a small electric saw and 2 cuts in your steering wheel.
Store it diagonally under the rear of my seat, when not in use, plus it's very heavy, so it could double up as a defence weapon if you get stuck in some areas of the cities, if you know what I mean.
As everyone says, you're only protecting yourself from the amateurs, the pros will just prop you up on a towtruck and run.
<BTW>, I only use the actual device, not the stupid yellow wheel cover...hehe
Besides, living in North America, having a 5-speed is a deterrent in itself

I had a few close calls with previous cars. Years ago, My car was broken into but a chapman lock saved it.
A friend came home for lunch in his old Toyota, went inside and within minutes car was gone. Later they found it with just the radiator gone.
That's what concern me. Theft for parts. It would be tempting if someone needed parts on a Mazda. Parts are not cheap.
The antitheft device i was thinking of is the Autolok. It locks the brake or clutch and comes with a steering wheel cover warning theives car is protected with the Autolok.
I didn't buy one. Instead i'm using an old club I made some changes to. Now it locks the trans shifter and emergency brake. Not fool proof, but a deterent.
