yup....From Canada have around 11,000km and I get a Buzz noise not only from the motor but what seems like the passenger side door or dash. Havn't yet been able to pin point it. Only seem to notice it when it's cold and while accelerating.

I have a 2500RPM "buzz" that seems to come directly from the center of the dash at any temp. It happens exactly at 2500RPM and disappears if the tach needle is either slightly above or below 2500.
The top rear of the door panels can also be "creaky" when it's cold out.

I took my Protege in for an alignment on Monday. While it was in they performed the "Rear Speaker" recall service (NHTSA #00V301000) which requires the radio to be pulled out and put back in.
When I got the car back I noticed that the 2500 buzz is GONE!
Someone mentioned that they had a problem with noise caused by a bracket on the back of the radio, but I could not find the post. I guess that was my problem too.

It is only for 99 model AFAIK. If you go to http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/proble...alls/Index.cfm and enter 00V301000 under "Quick Search/NHTSA Campaign ID Number" you can the gory details.
What is the TSB number for the dash rattle? I searched the TSBs at NHTSA for years 1999-2002 on the Protege but nothing was listed for rattling.

I don't suppose there is a site that lists the Canadian TSBs then? Transport Canada only lists recalls. (It lists the "Rear Speaker" recall for 1999s under #2000234)
Otherwise, I guess I will have to ask the dealer.

I have the same rattle. I called my buddy at the Mazda dealership and he didn't know of any TSB's for the rattle. He's looking into it. I pointed out the issue of it possibly being something that the Canadian dealerships have and he'll start with them.
Any of our northern brethren been able to locate that particular TSB yet?

I had a buzz noise coming from what seemed the center of the dash when the car was cold. After alot of banging and frustration trying to find the noice...it finally turned out to be the clear plastic cover of the cluster slightly rattling agaist the cluster itself and the black molding that goes around it. As a temporary fix, I inserted some material between the black molding and the cluster face to keep it tight.....works until i can work on a permanent fix.

I fiddled around to try the locate a source of a rattle in the front passenger seat/door area on my P5.
First, I suggest determining if the rattle disappears when there is a passenger in the front seat wearing a seatbelt. If so, the noise is likely coming from the seat belt assembly... likely the upper shoulder belt adjuster.
Another item to check is the small triangular-shaped plastic panel just to the left of where the passengers left foot is. This flimsy panel just clips on.. remove it to see if this is the source.
If the above does not help find it, enlist the help of a passenger to help locate the source of the noise.
I attached a few little self-adhesive felt pads in some hidden places where I suspected vibration rattle, and my P5 now seems to be a rattle-free zone
