Axel stands, again...

This time I want to know what the safest spot is for axel stands for a P5.

I'll be giving my bro a hand to install a short-throw shifter ( http://www.protegeclub.com/forum/sho...ht=the+shifter ) this summer.

by axle stands I'm assuming you mean jack stands......these should be placed under the frame rails front and rear as close to each as you can get.

That's what the box says (axle stands)... But hey I'm french and I call 'em "chandelles", so you're probably right !

Thing is, the top of those stands are rounded (for an axle I guess), so I'm looking for something solid and that will fit in the top of these stands.

DO NOT try to support the weight of your car with the axle. You will be without a car.

It's ok that they are rounded. Mine are also. Some cars have a rounded frame rail. Just turn them sideways and they should have no problems.....after setting the car on the stands be sure to give the car a slight "jiggle" to make sure it wont fall of the stands on you when you're under it.

French eh? But you live in Canada... I'm German but live in America.

Hey, everyone in Quebec thinks they are French. Not Canadian.
They've already tried to secede at least once that I know of...

wow, how lame is that!! I may be a little biased but Canada seems like a MUCH cooler country.

Jerry Lewis is Canada's national mascot!

you definitely don't want that happening. knew a guy on a forum i use to be on that had a friend who had a car fall off jackstands onto him. sad to say but he didn't make it.

yeah, it's rough when you see one fall, but even worse if you've got someone underneath.

the garage I used to work out had a guy drop a cavalier off the front of a rack....no'one was hurt so we took a good long time to laugh at him.

Yup, francophone is the exact term. Sorry if I was a bit unclear for some. I'm from Canada, my passport says Canada, but I speak french. Is that better ?
And Quebec had two referendums on seperation from Canada.

And no offense to the french, but I never wished I was from France !
I like it up here, but I'm bilingual.

This is so off-topic... Again thanks for the info on stands !
