Yeah the lights will fit just fine. So you have a P5 and want to put the black sedan headlamps on? If you just hook them right up, they will work ok.. low beams and turn signal lamp will work fine. You'd have to unravel the covering on the headlamp wiring harness and move a wire from the high beam harness over to the low beam harness to have both low and high beams working, and to get the little corner light to work, you can disconnect the one on the side of your bumper.. just twist and remove from that, and pull that up into the engine bay and twist to lock it in to the sedan headlamp housing.
all in all, much easier than doing the opposite (installing Protege5 headlamps on a sedan.

What a pain that would be. Besides, the Protege5 has much nicer headlights, and are more HID friendly (dont have to buy a bi-xenon kit).
Keep your eyes on the forums, and a pair of black P5 ones will turn up eventually.
Like those ones we missed out on from iMazda for $40 or $50

Well you shouldn't just slap HIDs into your headlights either way, because it will blind people unless you really get them adjusted properly, and even then it's still more glare than any car on the road with HIDs from the factory.
The problem with the sedan headlights lies in the single bulb design. You'd have to get much more expensive HIDs that are bi-xenon. They are more complicated, way more prone to failure, etc.
The only good way to put HIDs into a Protege is via a projector retrofit .. check this to see a nice Protege retrofit job:
