are brakes covered under warranty

I have a 2002 pr5 with 17,000 miled on it and it needs new brakes already (probably my fault). But I was wondering if the factory warranty will pay for me to get new brakes on the car. Will they hassle me about it being caused by abuse or will they fix my bakes for free?

If any thing they will cut you a break on the price being that it is under warranty. Like with my battery before replacing it. I thought it was going bad and they were going to sell me a new one at a lower cost since it was under warranty but had been used for some time. This was this year and my pro is a '01. It's worth checking in to.

Don't count on it.

Brakes are a normal wear-and-tear item.

Only thing they might replace is a defective part, like a stuck caliper or warped rotor.

Maybe they'll cut you a break if you're nice to them - but most likely not.

If you want to save some money, do the brakes yourself. You most likely only need front pads (rears wear MUCH slower), and they are so simple to change. Once you get the wheel off, the brakes are literally ONE bolt per side to swap pads. Easy as pie.

if you need new brake pads well no. its because you were hard on the brakes. if there is a fluid leak or the master cylinder is defective or the rotors warp they will cover it.

heres a good idea: at napa auto parts they have lifetime warranty brake pads. basically, nobody keeps the reciept but my dad has done so for our brake-eating 89" suburban and gotten like 5 sets of pads so far for the price of one. its really awesome. they replace the worn pads with new ones as long as you keep the reciept
