buying guide for Protage 5?

Hi, I am thinking of buying Protage 5, and was wondering if there are common problems and such.

I work on my Supras so I am not a noob about cars, so basic maintenances are fine with me.

Thanks
also if anyone owns other wagons as well, please let me know what you think about them and Protage 5.

Thanks again.

common protEge problems are weak engine mounts and shuddering clutches. Anything other than that is just owner maintaince issues.

They are great cars. Looking for other wagons? try a Mazda3S hatch. I had one and they're very nice. Deffinately the nicest of any other car in it's class (price range)...the audi's are nice but are $30K.

We might be a little biased here...but I would choose a Mazda product over oh say...a Kia or Suzuki. The only other wagon I've driven is the Audi, very nice, but out of my price range.

Good luck on your purchase!!

Thanks for quick replies.
My choices are, Protage 5(because I like its style.), Subaru Legacy or Imprezza(strong and reliable), or mazda 6 wagon(I like this, but over budget)

Roddimus Prime: what do you mean by "shuddering clutches"? also is that for both 5spd and AT?
I am thinking of buying AT btw..

it's spelled protEge....

The clutch problem is only on manual cars....obviously. It's a flywheel irregularity. You won't have any problems on an automatic.

Just make sure the service is up to date on the car if you buy a used one. That's all you really need to worry about.

For the price - they are top of the class if you value handling and style.

Good reliability and a 'uniquness' you don't get with Honda or Camry wagons.

Even stock - people would give a thumbs up thinking it has been 'modded'.

Join the club - very few people have had negative comments.
