Can anyone answer this question?
Hi, Im the very proud owner of a 2002 Mazda Protege5 that I absolutely adore! Ive noticed one small thing about it though that bothered me a little bit.
When I do 65mph on the interstate, the tachometer goes up to 2800rpms (I have an automatic). Is this normal for a P5? A mechanic told me that I should probably get my transmission checked but I wanted another opinion.
I hope you guys have some insight. Thanks!

if you are nervous about your tranny (which you should be since this is a ford derivative tranny) depending on where you are, transmission fluid exchanges (not complete flush) is beneficial every 12-15K miles or once a year. but yes, your revs should be about that high because of the gearing. going 75 puts you almost at 3500rpms.
