I went into my dealer and said, do you know of any reason my car would do this. They mentioned the TSB and ordered up a clutch (and some bushings for my clunk)

 

i've had the car for a year and the intermittent clutch issue since day 1 - i now find that more and more often i grind while shifting and i know its not my fault! get it fixed now

 

make it 3 in Edmonton. I've experienced this in my car over the last week. So far, I only notice it in first gear. I'll keep info posted about warranty fixes.

 

First and foremost, what does the dealer do exactly at 25,000 kms for $175? I do my own oil changes on the car and never go to the dealer for service. Should I go for this checkup?

Secondly, I'm not sure I understand what the clutch chatter is but I don't have any problems with my clutch so I guess I shouldn't be worried at the moment.

Can someone provide the link for the TSB. I have tried to find it but cannot find it. All the posts say to go to FAQ. Problem is there is both Forum FAQ and Protege FAQ.

I know I will need it when I go to the dealership. They are not exactly up to date with TSB's at my dealership.

 

Several of us from our Edmonton Protege Club have already got this work done. I know of at least 4 of us who experienced this problem and got the clutch and flywheel changed. The big culprit look like the flywheel. Mazda it seems subs that out (as per norm I guess) and the supplier used some inferior material. Mine was changed this year and now everything is good.

Surprised to see so many Albertans in here.

We're in Lethbridge, buying a 03P5 this week. I'm a bit nervous about the dealership (just changed owners, too), and have pondered purchasing the car in Calgary or Edmonton.

Anyone with thoughts on that idea?

 

I would say a lot comes down to the dealer. After you buy the vehicle are they going to stand by you with service? (prompt, efficient, competent)

If there any reason you would pick a dealer from a non local place over a dealer in Lethbridge?

for the lady who had the problem with the idle, going up & down even after car is warm.....02/pro 5's are getting a name for the I.A.C valves going kaput...(air idle control )....get it checked

For the rough idle:
It seems that many of us have the same problem. I noticed in one of the other threads that they had the PCV valve changed and that helped the rough idle. My car will almost stall if I am sitting at a stoplight due to the rough idle. I plan on changing the PCV as soon as I get time.
