Car stalled once should I be worried????

Hi there,

Yesterday I was driving through some heavy traffic and was going very slow(I'd say less than 10 mph) when my car stalled, the battery power seemed to be on, because my music was still playing but I could not move forward.

I had to turn off the car completely and start it again and everything seems normal, should I be worried. I have a 2003 protege 5 (automatic) with just 5K miles on it.

Thanks in advance

yes, you should check it out. No CEL? Check all your grounds and connections.

If they can't reproduce the problem you will win yourself a nice $65 diagnostic fee

They shouldn't charge a diagnostic fee for that low of miles. I had about 8k on my 03 P5 when the heat sheild problem came up. They took it for about 4 hours, (probably ran the **** out of it around town) and even hooked up frame listeners. And that's not cheap to have done. All under warranty work. And they only got it to make the noise once. When they were taking it out of the shop to return the vehicle to me. LOL

Frame listeners? If it's under warranty they should'nt charge you crap. I would definately be worried about something like that.

Frame listeners are little devices that pick up sound waves caused by suspension and other componenets. Any adverse noises, like my heat sheild rattle, can be picked up, when it's not heard by the human ear. They're installed at key places on a car, then driven around. The devices record everything, and then can be played back for review. My heat sheild on rattled during a slow start, and sounded like a popping noise. The frame listners picked up noise made from the heat sheild that was too low to be heard in the car.

I went to the dealer, he coud not replicate it nor did he find anything wrong. I am going to keep a close watch on the car, I guess. The dealer didnot charge me anything for doing a check though....
