Changing ATF Question
Our 2002 P5 has reached 36K trouble free miles without having to go back to the dealer. I'm about to change the automatic transaxel fluid and the book calls for "ATF M-V" Is that a Mazda product? I certainly don't want to put the wrong ATF in it! Any help appreciated.

I've never heard of ATF-M-V specifically but if your owners manual calls for it then it is a mazda part number. Call your local Mr. Transmission or speciality shop and ask then this exact same question. I would be willing to bet they tell to you use Dexron/Mercon just like everyone else.

all that is is mercon five fluid. everyone pretty much uses the same stock. ford, lincoln, mazda, volvo, etc. use motorcraft stock and motrcraft gets it from Company X, who more than likely supplies chebby and dodge and etc. lol, you get the idea.
PS - i would let a shop do the trans' flush, because they have the proper gear to maintain pressure and push a solvent-based clutch/band cleaner through it. ATF is messy ****, i dont like flushing the transmissions in customer's cars... but damn it pays good!
