Changing the Defroster
Car: Mazda Protege

I have to change the rear defroster, and not sure where its located. I went to Canadian TIre but they were no help. I need to know soon, because I have a driving test in the afternoon lol.
Thanks!, any help is appreciated

It's a metal heating element built into the rear window glass. To replace it means replacing the whole window.
Check the fuse diagram in the electrical distribution box under the hood and see if the fuse is blown. If it's good, use a volt meter (or a circuit tester with a lamp) to check and see if the element is getting juice. Sorry, it's cold and dark and I cant suit up and go look to see how easy it is to access the terminals back there. If it is getting 12 volts, unhook it and check the element for continuity with an ohmmeter.
Otherwise get some de-icing fluid if that's the problem. I hope it's not some state inspection regulation.

Thanks. Ill check that out for sure today. Its not really a regualtion, but since its winter here in Canada, the windows fog up real quick. Hopefully today it wont fog up badly, then again, its -3 right now, so things aren't looking my way, if anything, ill just heat up the car for a little bit before I take the test, and hopefully i wont run into any problems.
