Cig Lighter, dash removal

Cig Lighter, dash removal
This should maybe be in the interior section but I wanted to make sure the right people saw it.
I just purchased an 2002 Protege 5. I noticed my lighter is not providing power. I was wondering if there is an existing thread or a good reference on how to remove the interior pieces to get behind where the cig lighter is. I think something is just disconnected behind there. Love the forum, very useful on learning about my new ride. Thanks.

You should be able to gain access to most of it by simply removing the radio surround bezel. There's a how-to somewhere with pics, but it's pretty simple.
1. Look up by the gas pedal, and disconnect the climate control cable
2. Remove glove box, and do the same on that side.
3. Tilt the vents above the radio downward, and gently pull the bezel towards you to unclip it
4. Unplug the hazard button, and the climate controls
And now you should be able to pull the entire bezel out and gain access to a lot of stuff back there. Good luck and enjoy your P5.

Well I have the same problem, except in my case, I believe I have a cut wire back there. The reason I say this is because of the fact that the guy who owned it before me rigged up a stereo system and seemed to cut alot of wires. The fuse that controls the cig lighter is completely fine and I even replaced it to eliminate this possibility. Is there any wiring diagram so I can fix this wire and get power back?
