Believe me, I would have kept the RX-7 Vert if the EX-wife wouldn't have such a **** fit about me putting a baby seat in the front. But as it turned out, I needed a fun to drive convertible with a usable back seat ... don't hate

Find somewhere else to advertise. Why would I pay for hosting just to let you plug other sites? And maybe if you wouldn't throw in the personal attacks, I'd leave your posts alone. There's a right way and a wrong way ... like your signature. That's fine, it's a simple invitation. Not something like "this site blow, come to clubprotege" ... or "you're a punk, come check out clubprotege". Such an eloquent spokesman

Just buy the Mazdaspeed Protege. It's worth it!

The after-market is growing and you'll be able to do what you want with out to much trouble.

Ryan,

The MP5 and the MSP are excellent cars. I bet you'd enjoy modding the MSP as much as the 7. Either way you'll be saving yourself some money and keeping it in the community--a win-win situation.

Yea, I have a friend here local with a 2003 MSP ... I need to drive it more and see what I think. I did like the car though, or else I wouldn't even be asking in the first place.

I went by Fusz here in STL today and drove one of the Laser Blue MSP's. I enjoyed the drive. Overall the car feels nice, but there was more torque steer than I was expecting. I really like that color too! It was a quick drive, nothing extensive. But I plan on going back and taking one out on some twisty back-roads. You can just feel that the turbo would love to be able to breathe more up top ...

You people call this a "club" and a "community" and then start flaming someone that comes here interested in the car?

Ryan,

Obviously, the M3 is a much better car, but I think that the MazdaSpeed Protege would be a great project car. It would make you deal with FWD and how you have to take so much more into account how to put the power down, compared to a RWD car. It will be a nice challenge, I think.

The car handles really good, in typical Mazda fashion. Power is not anything neckbreaking compared to the 3rd gen RX7, but it's a pretty quick car. Comparing the 1/4 mile times to the few times reported on rx-8.com, the car can hold it's own, especially with that new ECU reflash from Mazda.

I think your project would go a long way to waking up aftermarket support for the car.

On top of this, you can get the car for next to nothing these days. The dealers are dumping these cars because, as you know, the Mazda 3 is coming in a few months and it is a completely different car. This leads to the question: Do you want to do a project on the MSProtege that won't be made anymore, or should you wait for the Mazda3 and do a project on it? The 3 would be a bigger challenge, since no one is doing anything for it yet.

The Bimmer has been done. No fun or challenge in that.

The aftermarket is already "waking up" for this car. There are two companies that I know of for sure that are developing parts for the MSP.

However, I do agree that having one as a project car for a magazine (I Turbo Mag is doing one also) is still a great idea to help bring out more stuff.

So, who removed my posts from this thread?
I would presume it was via someone very insecure about themself.
Why bother to initiate a post if you are intimidated by the responses? What's the matter, BOOSTD, afraid a few words will tarnish your precious "image"? hahaha
(don't worry, it was highly viewed)
Seems to me your over-inflated ego is so dense, that logic (if any exists) cannot escape the gravitational forces surrounding it.

Your statements are highly inconsistent and offensive, and I tried to illuminate this fact. In the end, you can only resort to deleting my posts.
Thus I doubt you have much savvy to produce anything on your own and
I DON'T BELIEVE A WORD THAT YOU SAY!

Why don't you import a Sport20 AWD from Japan and add a turbo to it?

They are selling the full-equipped manual transmission Sport20 for 1550000 yens (14,000US$) now here because the new Axela just came out to replace it.

Having it shipped would cost you about 6000$.

So you start your project with an FSZE engine that will surely better handle a bigger turbo than the Speed protege.
