the second one.

hahaha sorry, can't help it (since your question has been answered)

GENERALLY, cylinders are numbered starting from the front (where the timing belt/etc is) to the rear (where the transmission is).

Now the question is, who wants to know? Do you have a CEL mentioning Cylinder 2? Or is it mentioning Bank 2, as in an oxygen sensor CEL code? Bank 1 and Bank 2 (or is it 0 and 1) comes from the v6/v8/anything-not-inline world, but for our purposes the bank 1 oxygen sensor is the one in the exhaust manifold before the pre-cat (also known as the primary oxygen sensor) and the bank 2 sensor is the one immediately after the pre-cat (the only other oxygen sensor if you're stock).

do CEL codes for coil packs specify a bank number too? hmmmm

get some NGK ZFR5F-11 plugs and call it a day.. there's a coil on that cylinder so it probably isn't that (cyl 3 would misfire as well most likely)

but definitely pull the plug and see what is going on though

I already have those plugs. My dad said he dropped a plug but it looked ok. So I assumed it was cylinder 2 and I just replaced it. Pulled off the battery terminal, the cel went away, then came back 20 miles later. It seems to be driving ok, im not 100%. Do i need to have the code cleared?

If you disconnected the battery you already have effectively cleared the CEL. If the light came back, there's still a problem. Are you sure the gap on the plug is still fine?

I did not gap the new plug.

Any other suggestions for the misfire?

that could be a problem.... you need to make sure it's gapped correctly. 0.044 i believe? not postitive on that. they supposedly come pre-gapped...haha mine were WAY off when i got my new ones.

I gapped the new plug to .43, it was .40, i think i runs worse now, still a CEL. So if the plug wasnt bad, what else could it be?

How's the boot look on the coil pack? It may be the coil pack itself.

.40 inches? that's 10x what the gap should be.

gap it to 1.1mm (0.043 in the stupid us system)

maff.. wouldn't it be a multiple cylinder misfire then? it's a cylinder directly under the coil so you can't blame a wire.. the boot though, could definitely cause the issue.

do we use a wasted spark, where it sparks each time the coil pack fires, whether or not the cyl needs spark @ that time? Sorry, random question.

You have to remember that there are 2 separate 'senders' (for lack of a better term) that send spark. Something could be up with those, and still qualify as part of the coil pack. That's what I'm thinking, but iono. Either that or the boot.
