Dealer approved mods...is there a list?
Hi all.... i was just wondering if there is a list of dealer approved mods available. A list of approved manufacteres/brands. And if so... where i might get that list.
As stated in an earlier thread... i am very interested in 'enhancing' my p5 but don't want to void my warranty. I'm a very 'by the book' kinda guy.
ps... sorry if this has been covered b4.

I really don't think there is any sort of list. It all depends on your dealer, and how they feel about modding cars. Some dealers are really cool about stuff like intakes, exhaust, etc. but I've heard of some dealers that will *try* and void your warranty for just about anything. Apparently it's the law though that if something is broken, they have to prove that the mod you added caused the problem, and can then void your warranty.
Long story short, ask your dealer where they stand.

I don't know about dealer approved, but just about anything you do to your protege'5 other than tint the windows voids your warrantee. I know, I checked. The only suggestion I could make is the little 'Accesories' pamphlet they give out on the showroom floor.

You Checked? With who? Whoever told you that doesn't know what they're talking about.
The whole voiding your warranty thing is misunderstood by most people. There's really not much you can do, if anything, to void your entire warranty.
As "funkdaddysmack" mentioned above, the dealership by law has to prove that something you did to your car (for example, adding an aftermarket part) caused the problem you're having. If they do prove that what you did caused the problem, they won't cover that problem under warranty. However, IT WON'T VOID YOUR ENTIRE WARRANTY!
Unfortunately, a lot of dealerships like to tell you that anything you do to your car will void your warranty. I don't know why, probably because they want you to take your car to them for any and all maintenance.

My dealer is pretty kool... all young guys in the shop... real friendly. They have a display of mods (exhuast, cai, aftermarket lights, kool grills, etc). I'll go talk to them. thx =)
I know of one in Richmond Hill if that's the one you're talking about.

in the US the law is that you can mod anything you want, the dealer has to prove that it mod caused the broken parts. i don't know about you guys up there in the great white north.
SEMA is the organization that protects the aftermarket.
BTW, my local mazda dealer tints the windows of half the cars on their lot.

It's not a huge selection from what i saw... but the display IS there. So it makes me wonder.
