Unhappy Difficulty With P5 Reverse

Does anyone else have a hard time putting the tranny into reverse on their 3rd gen? At a standstill, even going through 1st, I can only get my reverse halfway in, then there's resistance. If I come off the clutch about halfway, it will nicely slide in without resistance or grinding. Anyone else experiencing this? Shoud I be worried? I'm taking my car in tomorrow for a wheel alignment, and I'll see about this as well as my idle problem while I'm at it. Any suggestions?

I experience this at times too.....its not a big deal....USUALLY just taking it out of reverse and putting it in Neutral and then going back with it, it pops right in.....I DID read a note in the MANUAL that actually tells you that the car may not go into reverse at times when shifting directly there from another gear...and to just put the car in neutral then depress the clutch again and shift to reverse.....had I not seen this in the manual I may have thought something was really wrong.....but its normal.

I have similar experiences, I just put in fourth and shift over to reverse and it engages quite easily. It seems there are many solutions, to this so just find one that works best for you, and shouldn't be much of a problem anymore.

Talking

The manual says something like this: Put it in Neutral, release the cluth, then try putting it in Reverse. (Works every time)

or wha Broich said above...
