Dip stick question!!
I got my PR5 for 2 weeks now,with 750 miles on it! Tonight was the first time i check the engine oil level. Now i pull the stick out,wiped it,plug it back in. then i found out that the ouil level was 1 inch higher than the H mark! Did they over fill my engine? i never had a oil change before. Also when the engine is cold, it take at least 4 second to start. which i think it's too long for a brand new car to start. Anyone have the same problem? And i checked when the engine was cold, and on a level ground.. PLZ HELP!!!!

I am in Milwaukee and the over night temp has been about 12f I keep my car in my garage (not attached to the house) and I don't notice a differance starting in the morning or if my car car has been out side at work all day and night starts fine I have been getting my oil canged every 3400 miles going on my 4th soon
I never looked to see the level tonight my mirror said it is 22f and starts fine.

Considering you just got your P-5....take it DIRECTLY back to your dealer...make them make it right....they have a pretty extensive checklist that they are REQUIRED to go over on the car BEFORE you ever set in it.....and you can bet your last nickle that checking ALL the fluids is one of those things. Not to mention...IF the level is in fact high...the dealer should know that someone in THEIR DEALERSHIP isn't doing their job when it comes to doing the customer delivery checklist.

Mazda dealers
I don't think that Mazda dealerships do anything right.I only go to mine to keep my warranty valid.I have complained to them for 6 months about my alignment and Finally they are doing something about it(actually doing as little as possible about it).
I love their cars but do they have to be such ********???

Zulu, call and talk to your areas regional office...tell them of the terrible service...even though the dealership is independently owned....the Mazda name is on it....and they don't care for bad PR because of a service department.....have you only been dealing with the service department? if so....go over their head...go to the owner. GO FOR THE THROAT!!! you paid good hard earned money for your ride.......do not accept anything less than kind courtious COMPLETE service for your investment.

I am thinking that you are right sir Nuke.I should call Mazda about my treatment.From what I have noticed though most dealerships around here(Ontario Canada) have similar attitudes both in the sales and service depts.My dealer in town is a really nice guy,too nice if you know what I mean.The service dept. is swamped all the time because the dealership is sooo small and the number of Mazdas around here is large.I feel like they are under the opinion that their product is perfect and they should not have todo anything after the car leaves the lot.
I am tired of being treated as a burden instead of a blessing by them.With bad after sale service I could take my sevice business elsewhere(another town unfortunately)and next time buy another brand or buy at another dealer.

Zulu it sounds like you are on the right track....just don't settle...if you don't get the answer you want from the owner...go to the regional manager....and then on to his boss....all the way up to and including writing to Mazda NA....if you sit there quietly and take it....nothing will get done...not for you....nor anyone that comes after you...and customers will continue to be mistreated...don't let..or allow them to treat you in any way other than with respect...you are so right..YOU are their bread and butter...without customers, they are a lot FULL of cars...and no money coming in.

Be careful if you take your own oil in to get it changed. I did on my ES and they overfilled it (something told me to check it). All they could say was wawawaaw that they do it by computer and not by hand. I said it is pretty sad if they can not employ people who can change the oil correctly in a car. I did not even get an apology until I called and spoke to the service manager. I made sure and reflected everything on my Mazda survey. Any non-warranty work you can guarantee I will go somewhere else.

A quick note on dealerships making mistakes like that....
A PDI (Pre-delivery inspection) is made, ususally by a service department tech (oil change guy ususally) or a prep deperatment tech (if there is a prep dept). They go through everything on the car on the checklist. They most likely check the oil, but if it reads anywhere around full it's left. They only get a certain amount of time to PDI the cars, and don't want to go over that time, because they won't get paid. It's a shitty problem, but thats how companies pay techs for stuff that they pay for.
And regarding overfilling and computers and that stuff...I doubt that oil changes are done by computer. It'd cost to much to make it worth while. They most likely pay one person that does oil changes, warrenty work, etc., to do things like that. When then refill your oil, it's usually done from a big drum that deposits out 5 quarts at a time into a "bucket" that they use to fill your car. If there's oil left in the pan, or a little more than 5 quarts, your car is going to get overfilled. But, the dealership has to cover their *** and make sure you have enough oil...not too little.
The unfortunate thing with dealerships, especially high volume ones (like the Ford one I work at) is that they get too many cars a day to go through every single thing with a fine toothed comb (and they don't get paid enough time to either). They need to get the car in and out as quickly as they can, to keep everyone happy. I can't say for sure how Mazda dealerships and service departments work, but this is what goes on in my service department (we have Ford, Lincoln, Mercury, Chrysler, Dodge, and Plymouth).
