no but seriously thought that really sucks, especiall if your like savin up and stuff and then all of a sudden all your **** is gone, i would truly be crushed and would really want to go kick someones ***. And, like everyone else has said before, even if the door handles were improved, theres always another way..

yah thieves are attracted to sound systems. my bro parks on the street right in front of the house. Theres two brand new cars in the drive way, but the theives rather have my bros car.

my bros car has been broken into like 5 times already. one time it really did get stolen, his sound system and a wheel got striped. He replaced his sound system again. The past 3 months, his car has been broken into twice, by having his door handle busted. His alarm scared the theives away but the door was wide open both times. The door handle look fine unless u look closely, but the lock is broken.

my bro doesnt even turn up his car stereo.

I'm thinkin that car stereo installers are usually made up of younger adult guys who are really into sounds/racing. Thats why im hestitant to have my car stereo upgraded, it could be these people who are setting up their customers to have their rides stolen.

along with what badboyeee said there.... if u think about it, the guys who know how to install the sound systems or who run a autoshop know the most about cars..... so if they were low on cash it'd be so easy for them to just go grab a few systems and make a couple of quick bucks.... alarm or no alarm to them doesn't make a difference

When I bought my ride, I researched security tint. It costs about $400. It puts a thick coat on the glass that makes it about as hard as the windshield, but when it is broken, it stays put. I guess the only drawback would be if you plunged into a body of water, or needed to get out in a hurry, and the doors are stuck!

Tint actually does two things:

If it's dark .... it gives a potential thief the impression that maybe there is something in the car of value.

And it actually makes it easier to break into a car because the tint will hold the glass in one piece instead of shattering. This reduces the mess, noise, and injury to the thief.

I've not heard anything on security tint and don't know anyone that has it....but am a firm believer that they would just find another way to get into the car. So maybe the tint will result in a smashed window and a popped lock/door handle to boot. If thieves were as resourceful at a job, maybe they could buy their own **** instead of stealing it.

Plain and simple, if somone really wants to get in your car, they WILL get into your car...someway or another. Security features are great, but theives know the ins and outs of every device out there. Nothing is thieve proof. One thing that will matter in the end is a good insurance plan.

I used to live where there were a lot of car break ins, and had my stereo ripped three times. The second time I brazed a heavy metal strap to the ground stud of the head unit, and tac welded that to the body. I knew it would be a bitch to remove, but they did it any way. After that I just installed a cheap POS with razor blades crammed in the back of the chassis. I was ready to just get even, and it worked. They didn’t take the unit, but they destroyed it and bleed all over the seats and carpet. At first it felt good, then I realized I was worse off with this bloody mess and still no stereo.

That weekend at a college keg party out in the woods, some guy says he can get me a stereo and takes me over to meet this other dude, and get this, he’s got bandages on his fingers! He says we need to go to his car to see his ****, and we walk out into the dark woods far away from everyone else. It was too sweet.

I of course beat the crap out of him, pissed on him and in his car, remember it was a keg party. I also got a new head unit, and actually enjoyed cleaning the blood stains after that.

I hate hearing stories of theft. I just ordered an in-dash cd changer and I'm seriously having 2nd thoughts about it. I mean any thief looking into my car will see it and think "this guy probably has quite the system".

I'll have a Viper alarm on it and the deck is useless without the keycard. It's the Blaupunkt Los Angeles that I'm getting and it comes with keycard technology so the deck is rendered useless without the card. It comes with a few stickers to put on the window so they know it's uesless...

However, thieves will still want to break in. I may decide to just put the deck and speakers in and sell the cd changer. Haven't really decided yet. If I did that I would have to put a pocket where the 2nd DIN is and I hate that.. makes the center console look so gay. The only picture I saw of a Double DIN converted to Single DIN w/pocket that didn't look gay was a guy who posted a picture here on these forums where he had a carbon fibre surrond to it... It looked really good.

Nevertheless I'll see.. not sure yet...

I wish these damn thieves would just use a slim jim like a normal person.

Take whatever you want, but leave the freakin car alone!

Such amateurs, really. My lady's Jeep was broken into last month - no alarm. These boneheads couldn't even get her deck out of the dash. Freakin' Kenwood - all it would take is a butter knife on each side, but they pry at the BOTTOM?? Dumbasses.

And just in case you're lurking the boards, pal - There's an alarm on both cars now. They are right outside the window where I sleep. Nothing would give me more pleasure than to treat your head like a Top Flite XL and bury my 6-iron into your skull. The golf club is right next to the door, I'm a fast little bastard, and there's only one way out of the parking lot here. Bring it - anytime. Fore!

on a side note thats true if the thiefs had a hard time getting the handles to break they would do more damage but even the little damage you see in those pics is going to cost me around $350 to fix wich i dont have ($500 deductable so cheaper for me to fix without telling insurance) so i will have to drive around with a shitty looking door handle for a week or two but atleast i dont have anything in the car and my alarm will go off if the thief opens the door i also folded the back seats down so he could see there is nothing in the trunk hope this keeps him from trying to pry my trunk open cause that will definetly cost an arm and a leg. Man last time the thieves did $1200+ damage to both doors now its less but still damit stop messing with my ****!!
