I've always had a rattle in the front windows whenever they are lowered only slightly. I don't think the tracks are engineered to very tight tolerences. I have no grinding noises but I regularly lube the rubber channels with silicone spray. I did have a problem with the driver's window bottoming out crooked and jumping out of the track. The problem was a big block of styrofoam used for sound deadening had fallen down into the bottom of the door and the glass would collide with it and knock it out of kilter. A big glob of trim adhesive fixed that!
