Dropped Soda On Floor - Corrosive?
Here's a big frig-up:
I was driving today and a 12-oz coke fell out of the LOUSY cup-holder and got all over the floor, from the pedals to the air duct under the seat. I sopped up as much as I could from the rug. Does anybody think I should pull up the rugs and clean before the soda corrodes the floor pan (GAD-DAMMIT), or should I not worry because of superior-treated Japanese steel?? Any info is lusciously appreciated. Thanks!!

I wouldn't worry about it. If I had a dime for everything I have spilt in the floors of many cars I would be a very wealthy man.
I would like to think that the floors are built well enough to with-stand coke.

This may sound sort of silly, but when that last happened to me in my Escort (I keep drinks in the compartment behind the E-brake in the Pro), I poured several large cups of water over the affected area (little by little). As I did this, I sucked it up with a wet/dry shop vac. When I pulled the carpet up in that area several months later, everything was clean and was not sticky. Be sure you go over the area slowly with the vacuum when you're about done so that you get as much water up as possible (in an attempt to prevent mildew and mold).

the only acid in coke is carbonic acid, (maybe a bit of citric) otherwise known as carbon dioxide, same as beer has in it (unless it's guinness ). it will not harm anything. cleaning a toilet bowl doesn't prove anything, vinegar will too and it doesn't harm anything either. but all the sugar from the coke will make everything stick to it and that could cause corrosion, but i'd doubt it.

I agree though...The coke is likely to just make a big sticky mess.
