Hi

The system we have to suit your application is our Haltech E6K. This gives full control over fuel injection, ignition timing (using factory components or aftermarket), closed loop idle control, closed loop O2 correction, plus it has four extra outputs for things as mentioned in the attached spec sheets.

The E6K comes in two types of kits, fully terminated harness kit and flying lead kit.

Flying lead kit includes:

-ECU - 2 power relays
-Throttle Position Sensor -Air Temp Sensor
-Coolant temp sensor -Programming Cable
-Fuse Block Assembly -Instruction Manual
-Programming Disk -Flying Lead* Main Wiring Harness
-Injector Loom -Haltech Stickers

The MAP sensor is extra as there are three different types:

1 bar MAP sensor – for naturally aspirated engines
2 bar MAP sensor – for up to 15psi boost
3 bar MAP sensor – for up to 30psi boost

Special high boost MAP sensors are also available.

Optional extras include:
-MAP sensor -Ignition Coils
-Boost / Fuel / Ignition Trim Module -UEGO Professional A / F Meter
-Oxygen Sensor -Idle Speed Motor
-Ignition Module's -Haltuner Air / Fuel ratio Meter
-Electronic Boost control Solenoid -Direct Fire Ignition Components

FLYING LEAD means the loom comes as approximately 2.7m of bare wires on the main, harness to ECU connecting plug. The harness needs to be laid out around the engine bay and cut to length. The plugs and pins are then soldered and connected on. This loom is ideal for the custom fit. With the flying lead harness you will need to purchase a connector kit. This includes all the plugs and pins needed to wire up the flying lead harness.

A fully terminated harness is a complete harness ready to plug in. This harness is much easier to install, and does not need a connector kit.

The optional Boost / fuel / ignition trim module can be used for a number of functions. These can be fuel rich/lean (fine trim, + - 12.5%), you can adjust the overall map to be richer or leaner from -12.5% to +12.5%. Fuel control coarse (coarse trim, + - 50%), richer or leaner –50% to +50%. Ignition timing advance retard –8° to +7°. For example, at idle the engine is rich, you can adjust the bars to make a change or turn the ****, turn the **** until the engine runs fine, if the trim value is –5%, then go to the bar which the Haltech is looking at, press alt ‘p’ (for percentage), then enter –5, it makes the –5% change to that bar for you, if used properly, it is a time saver, same for ignition. Or you can use the trim as your electronic boost control controller. These functions can be selected in the input / output setup page. It is the ideal aid while tuning an engine. On the main wiring harness there are actually two trim inputs, so you can use two trim features simultaneously.

The following is what you need to run your engine:

E6K flying lead kit
E6K connector kit
1, 2 or 3 bar MAP sensor

Optional extras which i recommend:

Boost / fuel / ignition trim module
Boost control solenoid
Haltuner air / fuel ratio meter (never tune without a Lambda meter, it is dangerous!)

Please find attached additional product info, and demo software, let me know where you are for prices.

If you have any other questions, please let us know.

Kind Regards,
Adam Neish

Subject: Haltech for Mazda MP3

Hello,
I was wondering if there are any ECU upgrade applications for a 2001 Mazda MP3? If not, are there any custom or universal ECU's available?

Thanks,
Ray Lofton

We run the E6K on our RX-7's, so if anyone is interested I can see what kind of deal I can get you. This is expensive unless going for Forced Induction.

assuming?

Hey,

Assuming the 1.8L (FD) engine in my car is related to the MP3s 2.0L (FS) could this kit be used on my engine ('99 Protege 1.8L)?
Is this a parts replacement kit or a piggyback system?
Also, what kind of green$ are we looking at?

This is not a piggy back system and I am sure can be used with your motor. It is an outboard ecu, replaces all harness and stuff.

Very cool stuff. THis is what I am getting put onto my 500hp RX7.

Later, Rishie

Depending on what other stuff you might need, I would expect to spend around $1200 - $1300. Then you'll need it installed and tuned. Very nice, laptop programmable. Holds different maps and stuff.

Fully Programmable stuff

You can use this on a stock car and see some improvement. You'll also get some nice gains with just the regular old intake/exhaust/header deal.

GRM put a fully programable ECU in their project Miata and all they had was I/H/E and saw some really nice gains.

It is a good place to start if you are going to go down the forced induction road though.

IMHO...
