Exhaust sounds

I'm looking for a new free flow exhaust, but I do alot of hi-way driving so I don't want it to be too loud. Can anyone give me any recommendations based on experience?

Don't get the Mazdaspeed if you want a quiet high-rpm sound.

I've heard that GReddy makes the quietest exhaust.

The Racing Beat MP3 exhaust is quiet on the highway. You almost can't even hear it at all.

I know. That's why I'm looking for a cheaper alternative. I figured the Mazdaspeed would be a good choice but I'm not sure about pricing.

Dont' get the Mazdaspeed if you're looking for quiet highway driving. It's loud.

I had the same concerns.... I went with the Racing Beat Cat Back. I really like it and my intake seems to make more noise then the exhaust. Of course if you are only looking for a muffler I don't have any experience..

But in terms of performance I would seriously consider the Racing Beat Cat-Back.

Good Luck

I think the full RB is around $500. Greddy would be good...keep in mind it's only for P5s (but maybe that's what you have).

Igot mine through Mitch at Protege5 Online. he's excellent to deal with and will talk to you about price. I did get dinged with Duty charges as I'm sure you will as well. However Mitch does do his best to make sure it isn't too bad.

I really like my system. It looks nice, sounds good, and isn't too loud which is something I've been trying to avoid during my modifications.

Check out Mitch's website and give him a call. great guy to deal with.

well I went for SRMotorsports exhaust system for p5, but if fits fine my Pro ES couple inch short in the tip area but looks nice, umm sound wise its pretty quiet at highway speeds (70-80mph normal speeds for Michigan driving ) its only loud when you get on the gas and when its been warmed up a bit, also it seems that my AEM intake is louder than exhaust, its $300 till sept 15th on their web site. I haven't had any problems with it since i've owned it.

EDIT: i fogot to mention that its a cat back exhaust, not axle back.

Mazda Speed

I have the mazda speed exhaust, and got it installed at the dealership. It cost me about $360 if I remember right...it's been a while...and it actually wasn't as loud as I thought it would be. I like the sound alot. Just my 2 cents...

mazdaspeed exhaust

The mazdaspeed exhaust is not too loud and cheap. I paid $198.50 from Mazda of Wooster and that included shipping. A 14MM open end and some wd-40 or dishsoap on the hangers and you are done.

I just got the Racing Beat catback from ARD (Rishie) on protege5.com. I got it for $450 shipped, but told him to put the total cost down as $200.

I'm not sure exactly how this worked out, but he put the cost of the exhaust down for 150 and 50 for shipping, and I didn't get hit with any additional charges. No duty, no tax, nothing.
