Angry extreme knocking when starting cold engine

has anybody had trouble with loud engine knock when starting cold engine? Dealer said it was rod bearing, 10 days later ordered a control valve.

When does it occur? at idle? when engaging the clutch?

70?!?! Florida is spoiling you'll. lol TRy starting your car in 32 degrees. Have you recently changed your oil? I know when I got a service check up @ MAzda they changed my oil and put some cheap garbage oil in my car and from there my engine has been making alot of noise when it runs. Once I got another oil change the noise went away.
