Few newbie Questions

Hi all,

Gotta few questions about my P5 that I have now for almost 2 months. I bought it used with 44,000km.

1. The sunroof has a sort of "rattle" or squeak when it is closed. No sounds when open or tilted. Anything I can check out myslef or do I have to take it to the dealer?

2. What spark plugs are recommended for this car? Should I put some premium plugs in it or am I wasting money?

3. Last one ... since oil has to be changed every 6,000km, is it worth the extra cash to put in Synthetic oil? I used to have a German ride that went 16,000km between changes. I can see the reason to use synthetic with such intervalls, but for 6,000km I am not sure ...

Thanks for any input :-)

yes use synthetics!!

and your rattling from your sunroof, is probably a worn out rubber gasket or something similar.

Hi Mastermis and Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to our Club. There are TWO BIG fridge'S in the corner with anything you can think of in them...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have.

make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!!

1. as stated above...its probably a loose gasket....OR could you be hearing wind noise from the roofrack?

2. Just use the standard plugs that came in the car....the others are really just a waste of your hard earned cash.

3. Personally....unless you drive in HARSH conditions....and as long as you change your filter every time you change your oil....a good high quality Dino oil will do just fine. at least that is MY opinion.

thanks for the answers ....

for the sunroof, I am positive its not wind noise. Its for sur a rattle. Not like something is loose, but more something rubbing, kind of like a crackling noise. (hard to describe)

For the plugs, what are the "standard" ones? NGK's?

with as few miles as really are on your car....just pop a plug out and take a look....to be honest I couldn't tell you exactly which plug it is...but the brand IS NGK.
