Fog lights fried again!
Does anyone else have a problem with their fog lights going through bulbs like mad? I swear I replace these things once every two months, it's starting to get tiresome. I don't know what the hell the deal is, but it seems that every once in a while when I'm driving I'll notice in the reflection of the car ahead of me that one of the lights isn't on. Sure enough, it's always one of the fogs ... Anyone else got a problem like this or at least knows what might be causing it? It's not the same light all the time either, but it could be crap bulbs I got from a local audio shop. They're Fahrenheit Super White Xenon halogen bulbs, and I make sure I never put my finger on them when putting in new ones cuz I know halogen bulbs blow up in a second if you get your greasy fingers on them.

stick with stock halogens if you want longer life. even the sylvania silverstars only lasted me a year (almost to the day). and make sure they're the right wattage. and don't touch the bulb when you're putting it in. if you do, take an alcohol wipe to get rid of the oil deposits. PIAA's seem to do pretty well, but then again, you gotta pay top dollar for them.

Question do you have a audio system in your car? if so this maybe the source of your failures. I have gone thru 4 sets of expensive PIAA Super plasmas, and they were burning out every 3 to 4 months, in my case the second set they had burned out within a week of each other. refering to the low beam. in every case the highbeam still functioned.
I came to the conclusion when I installed a CAP, and Volt. regulartor, that the bulbs lasted over a year and a half. the right one has burned out more recently, but like i said i went thru 4 pairs, the last two sets were aqquired at the same time so I a mpretty sure they are from the same lot batch. (store gave me two pairs by accident when warrenty replacing)
So my bulbs never blew as in blew up. the low beam filiment kept burning out. if you ever look at your headlights when your music is thumping its the same kinda thing people tell you not to do to your house light bulbs,, *keep turning a bulbs on and off quickly and repeatedly you reduce its lighttime considerably.
constant dimming has the same effect. you need to make the voltage stable.
well thats my 2 cents

maybe the wattage is too high? those 80-100 watt bulbs aren't recommended and sometimes theyre not labeled what kind they are. also the average life of the "high performance" bulbs arent that long, i think silverstars are supposed to last only 1 yr - 2 yrs, and piaa and some others have a 6 mo. - 1 yr average life. not so great but most of those are for show use anyway.

I've never replaced foglight bulbs...and until recently we hadn't even replaced any headlight bulbs either! One headlight bulb in the 3 years + 4 months of ownership.
I guess what I'm saying is...I can't help you
