Didn't know where else to put this, but have any of you seen this ford "lynx" does it remind you of anything? Especially the engine bay, protege clone anyone. http://www.motortrader.com.my/new_ca...x_rs/index.asp

I would've bought that in a heartbeat. Now if only they would make a turbo-wagon version of it.

I'm loving those headlights, Nardi steering wheel, and seats. The power output is in line with the old MP3; maybe it's kind of an MP3 with a Ford badge on it. Do you suppose those headlights would fit on our cars? Nobody makes projection beam headlights for our cars...

Hey Matty, what's up with the fat guy licking himself? No more pirate?

Ford owns 33% of Mazda. The other 67% is owned by Japanese banks, stockholders, and financiers. So, no - Mazda is not a Ford brand. If it was, your Protege would have a lot more in common with the Focus (which was developed at about the same time as the 3rd gen). But, it's a Mazda design, built in Hiroshima. And, having driven a Focus, the Mazda Protege is a far superior car in terms of interior materials, ergonomics, and overall quality.

the fat guy licking himself is Peter from Family Guy, a hilarious show.... i love it

knowing Peter, he would probably do such a thing as lick himself lol, like when he wanted to try out the pencil sharpener

The scene was peter and chris at the swimming pool.....chris wouldn't take his shirt off because he was embarrassed that he was fat. Peter said "Embarrasssed?? You want embarrassed?? HEY EVERYBODY!! I"M PETER GRIFFEN, CHRIS GRIFFENS FATHER.....uh.... (titty-lick)".

Very funny scene..

ANYWAY.....that ford lynx is awesome and we know that it's 98% mazda so it's gotta be an awesome car. Anyone in that part of the world?? We should send someone to track down the Ford Lynx Forums and invite them over here....they may be interested in a supercharger!

Okay. I'm pretty into those projector beam headlights on the Lynx, and want a set for my car (if they will fit). There are probably other people who would like them, too especially since we have a GI thread on projector beam headlamps that don't exsist (and it's generated a lot of responses). Well, here is an alternative that might be viable. I looked around on the internet (including Australian sites) and couldn't find much about Lynx parts. Anyone interested in pursuing this? There are three things that need to happen:
1) Find out if Lynx RS headlamps will bolt into our cars with the Mazda grille, hood, and bumper.
2) Find reliable, reasonably priced source for Australian Ford parts
3) Set up a group buy for Americans and Canadians interested in these parts
Any Australians out there - any suggestions or info on the first two? Your Yankee friends will appreciate it!

One of my friends originally found the car and gave me the link to it, I can have him help me find parts for the lynx and maybe some forums if they even exist for it.

from the pics i have seen, the headlight assembly on the lynx will not fit any 3rd gen protege (meaning the 99-00 and the 01+ models)

That car looks a bit like a ford laser to me. And as for projectors, patience is a virtue. I'm not sayin' that I know it's goin' to be made, I'm just hopin'...

Here are some links about the ford lynx, don't know if they'd be any good to anyone who's interested...

I dunno if u compare them to a 3rd gen with the bigger healights with the turn signal in toward hte grille and then lo0ok at those projectors its pretty close. They are shaped a lot alike the only thing that makes htem look kinda different is cause the grille on teh lynx is so much bigger. I dunno maybe its just me but I dont think there would need to be too much fabcrication for those headlights to fit on a 3rd gen with teh bigger lights.

yeah i know i have the protege with the bigger 'signal' lights

here are pics of my car compared to the ford lynx

these are 2 pics of my car

here are 2 pics of the ford lynx

you see they are similiar but the ends (where the turn signal is on the pro) are not the same, the fenders would have to be modified, maybe the hood
dunno about the front bumper, the grill will have to be changed/modified cuz the lynx ones come in at a different (more sharper) angle than the pros
