Gas Millage, what do you usually get to a tank?
#16
I never got more than 320 miles out of my P5 (K&N panel air filter, Amsoil Series2000 synthetic 0-30, Automatic with Lubegard fluid)
My P5 has 11K miles on and I drive mostly in the city with A/C on and I usualy get 270 miles out of a tank!!! -S U C K S!!!!
That gives around 21-22 mpg. Once on a highway trip it did 320 miles out of a tank and that gives 26 mpg (Driving over 80mph most of the time and no faster than 95mph)
How to hell do you get 420miles out of each tank?

80 - 95 mph sounds kinda fast to me. (i live in a KM/H world so I don't know) Your engine's fuel economy is probably thrown into the toilet when you're going that fast for an extended period of time.
Oh, and turn off the AC. That **** kills the mileage. I have it, but hardly use it. I prefer 5 window AC.

Usually what I'll do is use the AC to cool it down initially then roll down the windows to keep it cool..

P5 with 5 speed, windows up and A/C on.
Rarely a lead foot.
worst mileage = 28.5 mpg (city)
best mileage = 33.1 mpg (highway)
Average has been 30 mpg + or - 1 mpg.
I use premium unleaded and the car is stock with
3,500 miles.
Oh the roof rack removal added 1 mpg on highway trips and got
rid of that damn wind noise in the sunroof.

Car's just over 3k miles, looks like I'll be changing out the oil here soon. So far I've averaged around 26 MPG. In terms of driving style, it all depends. Typically around town and just cruising, I drive a bit grannyish (5mph over or so). But if I feel like having a lil fun I push it to the floor too. I'll be doing tests here directly before and after the new oil... we'll see if synthetics has any effects on my mileage as I've heard it does...

ES auto (2.0L). On my first tank of gas (not sure what the octane was, whatever the dealer filled it up with) I ended up getting 330 miles off of 12.5 gallons, which comes out to a bit over 26mpg. This is with about 50/50 highway and city, a fair amount of hard accelerating, and AC on much of the time.
A big problem I find with the Protege is that the gearing on the automatic is not very good for highway driving (around 70mph). It runs at close to 3k rpms constantly, which is not so great for mileage. My parents' 98 accord 4cyl runs at FAR lower rpms. Civics do as well (part of the reason they whoop everything in terms of mileage). I guess nothing can really be done about it though. The 2k1 Sentra SE (2.0L) seems to be geared almost exactly the same way.
