gauge question

ok, before anyone asks, i DID search the forum.

so ive had this gauge cluster from a 02 protege with a tach that i want to put into my 02 pro, which has no tach. is this a simple bolt-on/wire-up installation? ive heard:

*i have to get the dealer to program the miles in it
*if i do it the car wont start cause the miles dont match
*simple bolt-on and wire-up
*there is no tach wire

hellllllllllllllllllllp please? i really want to get this thing in and stop it from collecting dust next to my car models

I think the mileage is stored in the ecu or something like that. If it's plug and play, that would be awesome, because it only takes like ten minutes to R&I. I say put it in and see if it works!
