Is this a good price?
Hi my local dealership has the loaded 5 spd P5 for 22870 + PDI and 7% sales tax here in Alberta. Is this a good price? and how much can I negotiate? (not much because of the vehicles popularity)
Would love to have heated seats... approx. $500 aftermarket...
does it affect the warranty?
One dealer wanted an additional $4K for: leather - tint - momo shift & pedals, DTM exhaust, Monster Flow intake and GT-R badging. only to add 10 hp.
I like this car... and would like honest feedback. Thanks

Who are you dealing with? Sounds like Kramer from the junk they've added to the car. I had a bad experiance there, and I would never deal with them. Go to www.mazda.ca , then go to the "mazda maker" to get the MSRP price for the options you want. Print it out and take it with you to the dealer.
Have you tried going to Northhill? I bought my 2001 ES GT there and they were great! Talk to Bobby, tell him Kris (bought a white ES from him) sent you, maybe he'll give you a good deal like he gave me (msrp + 2 free oil changes, free front mask, free wheel locks...).

yo! any accessories ya add on yaself is the best, ya save tons of money. about the warranty, only modification may affect it but add ons, i dont think so (check with dealer). i spent $2000 plus on add ons meself and me car looks quite spicy (00-pro-lx 5-spd., blk. with mods). me is love it.

MSRP, are you guys kidding? I would never buy any car for the MSRP. Use Edmunds, Kelley Blue Book, or Carpoint to find the actual price the dealer paid, and negotiate up from there. Especially right now, car manufacturers are offering deals because sales are slow. Talk to a sales manager or fleet manager instead of a sales person. Sales people are useless.

As noted above - the CDN $ Mrsp is 19895 + 1000 for A/C + 800 for the moonroof... = 21695.... I may have to see the Sales Mgr as you suggested and discuss what the 1175 difference is exactly.... (this is where they probably hide the freight / pdi, a/c tax and tire tax, documentation fees.)
I'd love to say... hey take 7% off the 21.7 ($1500) and you got a sale! Love to know what the dealers invoice is...
But demand/popularity is high for this model... so they aren't budging.... and for me winter's coming...and I can't ride the Ninja much longer!!
Keep the rubber side down and shiny side up...peace!

like you said, some of the difference is the paper fee, tire tax, ac tax etc. Another big one is the pdi, it is a total waste of money but there is no way you can weasle out of it.
Also the dealer is likely including a block heater + instalation in that price. They will try to tell you that it costs them $200 bucks to instal the block heater which is a total lie. Tell them you will plug it in yourself.

Mak: Its a '90 Z-X6... bulletproof...my wife knows I'll never part with it...unless I trade it in...only has 25K on it. Great to have here in Calgary...but the season is over.
Thanks Kris... if they throw in a few freebies like the block heater,
a cargo mat... front nose protector I might be happier...
one dealer - Kramer quoted me $600 for the heated seats
Sunridge quoted about $500.
Looking at the accessory switch panel on the left of the dash...it looks like the switches for driver and passenger can be installed there?
I don't know about you guys...but I find this forum to be very helpful... thanks to all who have responded.
Cheers!

I bought the GT-R from Kramer and paid $22,000 Personally I like the fact that I dont have to add a Intake and Exhaust later. Now the leather... I will never buy a car without it! (Plus its nice driving something a little different and residual will be somewhat higher)
The intake made a difference as they had not put it on when I picked up the car. Drove it for a week then had it installed, rev's much easier. Had great luck dealing with Sebastien there. I leased which will be great in two years when the P6 or P5 with more power will be out. Or skip the new bike and get an RX8?? Anyways then you only pay tax on the lease payment. Cars are a bad investment so I prefer to borrow them. (I'm sure leasing will open a whole new can of worms)

Im doing a deal for the P5... silver 5 spd...dependent of course on my financing... now what about all the extra crap they try to shove down your throat?
What is worth paying for and what is not?
I can scotch guard the upholstery for $10 myself...
Rust protection? Underbody? Final Coat sealant?
Like Tony Soprano says... fugedabowditt!!
Comments?

Most of the stuff is just that... Crap! One of my best friends works at Big4. They get paid extra on stuff like scotch gard, paint sealant, etc. (why do you need to seal a clear coat paint job??) Dont waste your money. If your worried about the seats scotch guard them yourself. The paint stuff... call someone like Contemporary Coachworks and as them what they think. They will tell you not to wase your money.
If you decide you want the intake after, they come from Auto-Zeal on 16th ave. So where you getting it??
Good luck and enjoy the car! There great!

Didn't get the scotch guard, can do it later if I want.
Didn't get the paint sealant. Figured that car would have good paint and I like waxing my cars anyways.
Didn't get the undercoating. All it does is reduce road noise. On my 93 MR2 the undercoating is all dry, cracked and falling off. Next summer I'm going to scrape it all out of the fenderwells.
DID get the rust protectant. This is Canada you know. It gives me a little extra peace of mind when my car is covered in road salt.
