Heater Problems...
Ok...before anyone says anything...yes I searched the forums PRIOR to starting this thread!!! Heh heh.
Then:
Heater worked fine when I purchased her in December, didn't really use it much, since I bought the car in Ft. Lauderdale & I live in Alabama.
Now:
I pulled out my stock radio to install my new head unit and after checking out some of the threads I looked at, seems that the heat control wire could have possibly been knocked loose. Does anyone have any info on this?? As much as I know that the heater is a small issue & could do w/out...but, it's cold and I have to deal w/the lady screaming in my ear about how cold she is while driving in the car. Any assistance would be great....I'd really appreciate it!
Thanks in advance....as usual.
Regards,
-Phil

the control cable which runs from the front console runs through the back of the unit (below the stereo) into a connector below the glove compartment. It has an intermidiate clip that holds the cable down.
the end of the cable is connected to the actual heater control which by rotating left gives sends heat and by rotating tight sends cool air through. you have to take this cable off to remove the front console in order to put your new stereo in, and you have probably not hooked it up, or it may have come out.
its really confusing to say the least, trying to explain this. but your best bet is to look under the glove compartment to the actual control unit to figure out what i'm saying.
good luck and keep us posted.

ok if you take out your glove box and look to the left. youll see where the cable passes by to go to the heater box. theres a little metal clip that clips on the white plastic posty thingy thats near by it. Sorry the descriptions are lame but youll see what i mean when you get there. If that little metal clip isnt attached (slid on) thers too much play in the cable and it wont turn the heater all the way open. check it out, thats probly it. But be carefull cuz the clip has little barbs on it like a fish hook and it will cut you.

You know what? I left work and didn't see the above post til just now. When I got home, I took my HU back out and tinkered around. I did watch the cable and noticed the big white flap that switches the cold to hot was not coming all the way back, but when the cable was PULLED back, it worked fine. That's when I noticed the clip dangling, so I went to the passenger side, stuck my head down by the kick panel and poked my flashlight up there.....lo and behold I could see where it slipped off of the plastic retaining thingee, so I slipped it back on and that was that. No more screaming and a nice warm cabin for me.
BTW, good looking out oon the answers guys.
