HID Retrofit Disscusion Thread

luminics ultra white on passenger side (DON'T BUY THESE) and Helios 6000K hid on driver's side.
In person they look much more closely matched than in photos.. exposure is down in the photo to better show the difference.

Well, I've been a long time lurker here but never really posted anything before as most of my questions are covered by others......
Here goes:
I have a laser blue '03 ES GT sedan with a few minor mods, and am now looking at HID's for it. I've bought a couple of HID retrofit kits off eBay (hi/low 4300K - I hate blue lights!) and have installed one of them in my '96 4Runner as a test.
The results are sort of what I expected, aside from having brighter light with more glare on the low beam setting as compared to the high (not sure what to do about this; I've contemplated switching the wires that control the solenoid positioner on the bulb. I'm still not sure if it moves the sheild or the bulb when it operates.) So I drive around with high beams on to reduce glare and tilted headlights as much as their tired old adjusters would let me. Still unsure of how bad I'm blinding people yet; I may take the kit out if it is too problematic as I have Pilot DRL's and Hella FF1000's mounted on my bullbar and they are adequate enough....
My question is this:
Anyone have any pictures or experiences to show with their HID retrofits on the sedan? I'm aware that I will have to bypass the DRL module to make this work (but I'm still a little fuzzy on how I need to wire things with the odd Mazda switched-ground headlamp system.) Just trying to assess whether it is worth doing or not. I have a set of H4 silverstars sitting around that may be adequate, plus I am building a quad beam light bar using some cheap Pilot titanium series lamps. Starting to think that may be enough for me and that this HID project is more trouble than it is worth. I guess it depends mostly on light quality with the retrofit. I have Canadian black housings on my car and I read on here that the sedan is easier on the eyes with the retrofits. Haven't seen any pics to assess how bad the hot spots are, though.
Anyone have any advice or words of wisdom on this?
I have the DRL disable mod printed out, but how long will it take to do? (Some mods are harder than they appear... I'm a pretty good DIY'er but I tend to work slow.)
And I'm not sure the DRL mod will be sufficient with the HID kit wiring. Can anyone confirm?
