high idle @ start up

Hey everyone, i got my new MP5 a few days ago, and waswondering about something.

When i start the car in the morning to go to work, the engines rev's up about 2000 RPm's, but then slowly drop's down to normal ilde speed.
it's also a 5 Speed if that matters.

is this normal???

Umm yeah, most cars are designed to idle higher when its cold out in order to warm them up. I'm no expert but I'm pretty sure there are temp sensors or some **** that help to warm warm the car up quicker, but still keep it in a safe cold temp operating range. I'm sure someone will come along with some more knowledge and give you a more accurate, in depth answer. But yes its normal.
