hood lifts where can I buy them?
I think we all know how cheesy our Protege prop rods are. I feel if I jiggle the car to much when I am under the hood it is gonna fall on my head. Do any of you know where I can buy some hood lifts to replace this part? My friend has a Golf and I think he was able to use the trunk lifts from a CRX. ANY INFO ON THIS SUBJECT WOULD BE COOL. tHANKS

I'm interested in these things too. Some guy at the Miata meet I went to had these on his car...very nice.
Of course, the Miata hoods are very light compared to our Pro's, so I don't think they'd fit w/o using at least two, heh.

well i would think they are pretty universal...some one would just need to know what kind of brackets to use to attach them....you can buy all kinds of different hyraulic lifts like this at a regular auto parts store...I dont think however there are any specifically made for our cars

the generic name for them is "gas springs" and they are a universal part. you'll have to engineer your own mounting brackets though. they come in different strengths too. most autoparts stores carry them. you can also find them in idustrial parts catalogs like mcmaster-carr.
