how long has ur battery lasted

How long as ur battery lasted. I have a 2001 pro and today I went to start up my car and it just "click, click, click, click, click" it sounded like my starter when out. So I got my dads truck and gave it a charge, after that the car just started up.
But that's not all, I shut down my car and let it sit for an hour and then start it up again and the same thing happened.

do u guys think that something is draining my batt.

In FL, batteries usually last about 2 years, the heat kills them. I see that you are in California, is it real hot where you live?

This is my first Protege and I bought it new in May, so I don't know how they hold up in Mazda's.

My previous cars were Saturns and the batteries all failed like clockwork around the 2 year mark.

I just replaced the battery in my 323 about 6 months ago, it was the original "mazda" battery that came from the factory, or at least was from a dealer tuneup or something. 12 years isn't bad for a battery, hahaha...

You're joking right? 12 years? Wow, I normally get about 5 - 6 years on my batteries.

Well, it was either the original battery from the factory, or it must have been serviced at the dealer because it was a "Mazda" battery, so I'm assuming one or the other. It was corroded all to hell, too...

The battery in my Escort lasted five and a half years. Normal battery life is about 5 years on average.

Toyota makes great batteries, they usually last up to 10 or even 12 years what I've heard.

Yeah but all factory batteries are not that reliable. I always had problems when I went to start my car it would crank over for about 4 to 5 seconds before kickin over. For a new car it should start up no more than about 2 to 3 seconds. Thats why I got to get a new battery. I love Mazda to death. But there are some factory things I dont like to rely on and a battery is one of them. Your battery dont start you dont go no where! End of story.

*DebaryJoe I live in CALI and it can get hot but batteries usually run for 3 to 5 years. Depending on the type of abttery of course. But in FL its a lot more humid.

I bought the first new battery for my 91 DX last Fall. However, it is the second battery for the car. When the car was about 5 years old, I took it in for an oil change at one of the tire stores -either Goodyear of Firestone, can't remember. They called later and told me I would be needing a new battery soon and gave me a price. I told them I didn't want it becasue I could go back later with a $10 battery coupon.
The next time I popped the hood there was a new battery. It lasted another six years.
