is it a stick shift?
well cold air intake and exhaust, it wont make it blazin fast but it would be better than stock also loose the excess weight. that should be ok if youre limited on funds,
if not then, well a rebuilt motor that will handle a decent 75 shot of n20 and or a turbo, also i dont know if they are any sites on differential gears also.but in all if you look at the sticky threads youll find all the websites you need

Not much to do. Get another car...

If it was a 5sp, I would say get the turbo kit from Wagner.

It's not even worth a bag of M&M's to swap. It's just a destorked 1.6l with variable valve timing and has slightly more agressive cams. It's not worth my money at least. I'll be damn if I paid $1500 for a motor and another $800 to get it dropped in for only 30hp+/-.

The new FS motors will fit with new motor mounts, a new transmission, new tranny mounts, and tons of other important parts that will be needed $$$. Definitely not worth the money either. I have an auto 1.6l also. I totalled up how much everything would have been for a used 2.0l motor and transmission swap. My total came up to just over $7000 which included uncountalbe misc. parts that were necessary for the swap. That a waste of money for only 40 extra hp.

Read the FAQs. It has various amount of useful info that I myself found extremely helpful.

*Not trying to rain on your picnic, but...*
You're pretty much going through the same faze I went through with my 1.6l...IMO, it's trully not worth it. I ended up buying a faster car. Unless you have an excess amount of money to throw away, this car is not going to put out much performance numbers, especially with a weak automatic. I've done countless of hours of research and all paths had a negative ending. I gaurantee you that you will be more satisfied with yourself if you use the money to get another car with a greater potential for performance or trade it in all together for something quicker. It will save you more money in the long run.

I must add, for starters and practicality, what Cosmo420 recommended is the simplest way to go. Just get intake/header/exhaust. I wouldn't go much further than that for performance if this is your "every day" car.

Just try to enjoy it for what it is. Add a decent sound system, some rims, and lower it a little. You'll be a happy camper.

go with the wagner kit...your tranny can handle it if you keep boost to around 5-6 psi, and you should be around 150 whp...this should make your 1.6 a lot more fun! it'll cost you around $2K to do it right

The motor isn't the problem with going turbo. After seeing Dave's success, the 1.6l seems like a very strong motor and able to handle significant horsepower. My concern is with the automatic transmission. It's a factory tranny made to support 110hp.

Their are manifolds, but I believe pistons would have to be custom made.

Uhh, Didn't you test drive the car b4 you bought it? I mean then ya would have realized it was "too slow" and better your judgement for the purchase. Ya think?
