I'm buying the P5 tomorrow!

I'm trading in my Acura EL for a P5 5-speed w/ roof. I'm still debating what color I should get...Red, Yellow or Silver?

Right now the dealer only has two yellow and two red ones that have the options I want. One of the yellow already has 50 kms on it while the other has a tiny scratch on the front fender. Both are no no in my book so that left me with the red ones. Is it hard to maintain a red color car? I've seen red shows scratches easily.

Also do you guys think I can put in a B&M shifter right away or should I put some mileage on the tranny with the OE shifter for proper break-in? Anyone know for sure what size speaker does the Canadian models have? I've been searching through old post and can't get a definite answer.

If everything goes well then I should have my car by thursday or friday! Wish me luck!

there's a guy here who keeps his red in top shape, and it's really nice. i'm pretty sure the spkrs are the same as the us version (5x7front, 6.5rear). good luck on your car! no scratches and no high miles. (yeah, i'd go with the red so you'll be totally happy)

If it were me and I was buying one with the colours available now...I'd be after a white one or silver. I still think you don't see as many white ones because it only came out in the last six months.
Where in Canada do you live? There's a dealer near me that has every colour.
Personal I didn't have much luck with red cars...it's a lot of maintenance keeping it looking good.

Yellow catches the most attention if you're after that factor, there also seems to be a paint problem with it. Seems the yellow paint is thinner or something which leads to more chips. If I had the choice again I think I would do that blue.

If you really want a yellow, don't just settle for a red cuz it has no flaws. Wait for the color you really want, that way there'll be no regrets later. I have a Yellow and it turns heads - but if you don't want the attention factor or the WOWEE from people, then go for another color. Personally i don't like the red, i'd go for blue, black or white. White =

Also good choice on the trade in!

Thanks for the comment guys. For me it's either yellow or silver. I'll see what the dealer can get for me.

Noodle: I'm in the exact situation as you. My Acura EL is nothing but trouble. Right now my car has so many problem and the dealer don't have a clue what's going on. Like the engine is stalling for no reason and the car simply doesn't track on the highway. The suspension in that car makes me sick as the rear end hops up and down after hitting a bump. My shocks are leaking and this is the second time it's doing that. Not to diss Honda or anything but the new Civic and EL are disappointing.

Arrrrrr.....

Just found out for the price I'm getting I can pick any color besides yellow. They're saying basically if you want a yellow you pay MSRP minus 200 at the max. And I've decided it won't be red for me. So it seems it either silver or white now. Have to see it in person again tonite.

well the dealer is trying to screw you over that is all....if you REALLY want yellow....go somewhere else.....what they are trying to pull is just BS. they know that the yellow is their hottest selling color.....and they know if they get someone in that wants it bad enough that they will lay out the extra......but you know what? they haven't found that person yet...that is why they still have two sitting on the lot....I had to look all over 5 states to find my yellow P-5.....and EVERY dealer that had one, it was either already spoken for....or sold before it even arrived.....I just got lucky after two weeks of searching...the dealer I got mine from didn't even know they had a yellow coming in....I just happen to be there when the truck arrived...and I only paid $150 over INVOICE....not MSRP! in other words...they are trying to rip you off..... Just my .02

I would do that if I have a cash down payment. Basically I'm trading in my 01 Civic for the P5 and I'm taking a big hit from the depreciation. Seems that the 01 Civic is already well know for its poor reliability and design so the used car value drops like a stone. Even some 99-00 Civics are worth more than my 01. I went to three Mazda dealers (and 2 other Toyota dealers to look at the Matrix) and this is the only one that bothers to look at my car and give me some money back for down payment.

Have you tried selling your Civic privately? You'll probably get more thru a private deal than trading it in.

I considered that as well. But I'm stuck in the office from 9-6. Not to mention you have to serve people that are looking for a joy ride. O well...that is the first and also the last Honda in my life.
