how low are we talking here? I guess if your runing really low and the tank had dirt in it it could cause this. I owuld also check your fuel filter, or just replace it. other then that the hissing noise is normal

Well it wasn't that low because the tank only took $120 and one time it took $180! But the $120 is normal, but then again it really could be that. I read that the fuel filter is a lifetime thing and you never change that. Or am I mixin' that up with something else? How would I go about checkin' the fuel filter? Would I have to take out the back seat and get under there to check it?

It shoould be good for the life of the car UNLESS you have run a tank of really suspect gas through it.

There is no checking. It is in the tank and is replaced. I would check for flow pressure and volume at the engine.

Well I don't know how to replace that so I'll have to visit the mechanic again.

But how would I check for flow pressure and volume at the engine?

Ok so it started to act up again. Is this normal? I drove it for about 10mins, parked, so the car was off for about 5mins then when i got back in I started it and it was buckin'. I proceeded to drive off and took note of the time. Then I decided to pull over. I swtiched off, then restarted and left it runnin' for about 5mins and then it was fine. Can anyone tell me what's goin' on with the car?

I keep thinkin' that I over rev the engine that's why I keep sayin' i need to get a tach with a shift light. But I really don't know what it is.

Oh I also had the a/c on while I was driving hard.
My mechanic said that it's an electrical problem and I need to go by the electrician and get it checked out.
But what do you guys think?

It won't let you over rev it. These engines love to be pressed to the limit. If it really is water, like I said a few posts ago, no treatment will help unless it has alcohol in it. That's the only thing that will absorb water, and that's what it is specificaly made for. But since this has been going on so long, I figure the water might have been used up by now. Might as well try it anyway though, so then at least you can rule that out.

Ok so how would I go about with the alcohol thing? What kind of alcohol, just any at a liquor store? and Pour it in the tank???

Sorry for the dumb questions is just that I never heard of this and I don't want to screw up anything.

You may also considere getting the fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator checked out. If you're loosing pressure, or your regulator is faulty, you could be running really lean.

Ok guys so I ran the car really hard on my way home. Thta's about a 10min drive. Got home, ate, so that took about 30min, well I relaxed too. Anyways, when I got back to the car, I started it and it was sputtering. I had lost power again. The car could drive but it wasn't givin' it's all. I took a chance and left home then I decided to pull over before I got to the highway. I left the car running hopin' that it would be ok, because that's waht I did last time and it worked. So anyways, I realised it wasn't workin' and headed for the mechanic. This lasted for about 40mins!!! I got to the mechanic and he told me to go get a diagnostics by a guy less than a min drive from where I was. By the time I got there, well he wasn't there and then I drove back to the mechanic ans while I was pullin' off, it started workin' like normal.

My 2.0L Gets up to 180klm in 4th at red line, I can then take 5th Much higher, so far I hit 205klm/h @ 5750RPM and 6000 is the redline 62500 or so is the cut off.

I know the Automatics can max out arround 180klm/h (Lack of 5th gear)

160klm in 4th is fine, If you got a 2.0 4th should get you to 180klm/h. This seems like a weird problem. If it feels like the car is strugling to stay alive, I would take the earlier sugestion and check out the MAF, if its gone, its F-ed up readings might be making the ECU do some weird things to the air fuel ballance (If it thinks there is less air then there is you will run lean and the car with struggle like a bitch to stay alive), its a posibility worth checking out.

Good luck!!

I have a 5speed manual and the MAF is fine. The diagnostics guy opened it up though and cleaned it with a spray. He said to monitor it and if it still acts up, just bring it right back. That wasn't the problem however, he just decided to open it up and check it and it was dirty. The problem that was coming up was some solenoid something, I can't remember it exactly. But he said that the engine doesn't have that.

Man they're stumped about your car...if this thing happens again and I send my car there to get it checked, hypothetically speakin'...they would go insane I'm sure!
