intake component question, please help
okay. currently my friend has a 3rd gen protege lx 1.6L. we added a filter and the air sensor, we just drilled a hole and stuck it in the stock plastic/rubberish intake pipe and it looks like this...
now our friend sold us an intake pipe for $10 dollars. its for a honda and it'll fit with a simple cut. now my concern is, i dont want to drill a hole to stick the air sensor in the intake pipe because that would be ghetto and it can fall out. it has fallen out before and we stalled out in the middle of traffic. i need to know where i can get that black box that lets the air sensor plug right in like in the next picture..
the green arrow indicates the air sensor [we all know the car doesnt start without it in ur intake pipe] and the red boxed part is what i need.
so please fill me in some info on where to get this. thanks in advance

If you are talking about the MAF (mass-air-flow) sensor, then no, you dont want to drill a hole. In fact, you dont want to buy a new one either as they are a LOT of money. Instead, just cut the pipe and use some rubber connections and metal clamps that fit the pipe and do it like the picture.
If you are talking about the smaller air-temp sensor, then you just drill a hole the same size as the stock pipe and use the rubber grommet on the stock pipe to put it in your new pipe.
