jacking it up!

jacking it up!
When I try to jack the front of my P5 by the lug on the crossmember it leans too far to the engine side! My wifes Corolla with auto trans, jacks up level so I figured the manual trans is significantly lighter! How can I get around this problem? Attach weights to the drivers side front tire? If so, how much?
Thanx, Tom

there is a ball looking bulge right behind the front bumper if you look under your car. that is a better jacking point than the lug at the crossmember, i think. it's towards the front of the car more and is more centrally located. and after you jack up the car, put jackstands at equal height under both lower control arms and you're set. no worries about a lopsided car.

I wouldn't put jacks under control arms as they will move with the suspension. About 6" in from the side of the car you'll find 2 frame rails. set yuour jacks under them and slide them up as high as they'll go.
