K&N Air Filter results on 02 ES GT AT
I don't notice much improvement in power, but I definately get better mileage.
Without 10 L /100 km
With 9.1 L /100 km
These number were aquired from two sequential fill ups, no change in driving style (a few red lines!), with about 50/50 highway/city driving, but with plenty traffic jams, stereo on quite loud, all windows closed, vent on setting 1 to face only.
my car has ~1500km on it. I hope these numbers improve as the car works itself in.

Did you reset the ECU by disconnecting the battery prior to running this analysis/test? Or did you just put the filter in and away you went?

P.S - Where can I do some more reading or research on these filters?

well i might as well throw in my observations with the K&N in my 00 ES. I just had yet another MPG jump in my car. In the last 6 fillups, 5 of them averaged over 28MPG. Before this I was getting 26-27MPG under my daily commute driving condition.
This is totally unexpected, I figured it would've plateaued at 27mpg, but it just jumped again. I have no idea why it's increased again, but I'm not complaining!
oh yeah, I've had it installed since January, so I've accumulated quite a bit of refuel data. I'll post a graph of it if anyone wants to see it.

So with this K&N Filter, are you guys going to clean it after the recommended period of time or just replace it afterwards? Also, if you are going to clean it, will the dealership service team do this for you? I'm not a mechanic and don't really want to be doing these things on my own.

If cleaning an air filter is too much hassle for you, then stick with the paper filters....

1) Remove it from the car.
2) Soak it in K&N filter cleaner (it comes in a spray bottle).
3) Let it sit for 10 minutes.
4) Run water through it until the water's clear.
5) Let it dry. I put mine out in the sun for 1-2 hours to make sure it's thoroughly dry.
6) Soak it in filter oil (also a spray bottle).
7) Reinstall in car.
Easy

Gas milage all ways gets better during the summer. It is because of the way you measure the volume going into the tank. Gas pumps are corrected to 15 degrees C. So anything below that and they correct up to 15, so you get less gas. (by weight) anything above 15 is corrected down, you get more gas. Generally your gas milage during the spring and fall is indicative of what the car is actually getting.
