Lit/'One down' window switches

I have been thinking of replacing the automatic switches on the driver side door and passenger side door switch with the illuminated, one touch down window switches(the one for the drivers window). Does anyone believe this would be possible? I believe it might but, I am not sure. Any insight would be great. (Is what I wrote understandable?). Would the switches even fit?

I was thinking about the same thing. One would think it's possible, and the switches look to be the same size. I wonder if it's like the wiper stalk where all the action is handled within the part.

Anyone else have any thoughts?

Unplug the one from our driver's side and plug it into the other side to see. It should only take aout 20 minutes max to do it, and then let the rest of us know. Thank you!

From what I can tell, by looking at the workshop manual, the switch bank on the driver's side is a signle unit with four switches and the auto-down controls built right into it. I do not think it would be possible to install a "single" version with the auto-down in the single switch locations. I need to get a better wiring diagram to tell for sure, but on quick inspection that is how things appear.

Maybe there is an aftermarket solution?

does it look like you would be able to tie the rest of the windows into the auto-down control? That way you could auto-down all the windows from the driver's side.

from what I could see this would involved adding some external relays, so it would not be a simple mod. I would really need to think about the electronics involved to even begin to come up with something.

I wish the car had an auto-up function too, as many upper-market cars have.
Mine has both auto-down and auto-up. Single pull on the switch to raise the window automatically (only on driver's side).

Might be because I'm in a different market area.

Not fair! Then that means that Mazda has the parts...somewhere.

Yes, they do.

I could find out how much they cost, and what the shipping would be from here to the States... But, only if you are REALLY interested in them.

Oooh...Ooooooh....Oooooooooohhhh!

I am, I am, I am!!!

Interested in the auto-up window switch! If you have the time, please check this out! Thanks!

And I do know that the driver's side switch bank is all one piece. I would have to check and see if the 4 switches can be taken apart, but if I remeber correctly it's not just a simple disassembly.

I've wanted the auto-down on all 4 windows since day one. Or at least the passenger front.

Would be interesting to find out if it can be done.

I just got off the phone with the dealer... it's a very expensive piece ($200). He told me they don't sell the individual switches... One has to buy the entire four switch panel.

But, in case you want to look for it elsewhere, he told me the part number was BJ3DC6350. Perhaps you can find it cheaper somewhere else.

Sorry,
LOS
