Might be because I'm in a different market area.
My car came with those too, at least! we have something to brag about at our fellow US members .

Its most likely the safety regulations we have in the US. Just imagine all the lawsuits that would result from someone getting something caught in the widow when its going up.

If you put something to obstruct the window from going up, does it automatically stop? If it does, throw my comment out the window.

That's one of the things that drives me nuts about US "safety" regulations - just because somebody's an idiot and doesn't pay attention to how **** works around them, then gets all banged up because of it, they think they have the "right" to sue some poor bastard who had a good idea. Auto-up windows and auto moonroof would be the absolut **** in my world. How many times have you been pullin' out from the drive-thru, the ATM or a toll booth and had to wind out first gear while you put up your window? Obviously this only applies to manual owners but most of the Pro'ers I've met have a stick. Okay....I'm done bitchin'

For what it's worth, you can also go the aftermarket route:

It does stop. But it hurts. I put my arm out the window and rolled it up to see if it would hurt a child... and it would make them cry, but not injure them.

Lol, I've never tried putting my arm out the window to see if it would stop....Ill have to try that when I get back.
I love the auto up/down feature, I think it's kind of rare with newer cars probably because of what mnkyboy said, my old Galant (92) had it but my dad's accord(2000) doesn't.

It pisses me off when I have to pay for someone else's stupidity, if there are people stupid enough to harm themselves with a power window then they deserve it.

Yep. If you think about it, alot of products would cost less if we didnt have so many stupid people or people who dont take responsibility for their actions. If you look at a bottle of wheel cleaner, there is a warning saying "Do not place in drinking container". Someone obviously did this and drank the cleaner! They then sued the company, which cost US more money for the product.

Its only a matter of time before we have warning labels on toilet paper!! This goes out to all those *****...
